The Commission:
- recognises colleges that are approved training centres and oversees these;
- sets pre-requisites for admission as candidates for various ministries;
- prescribes minimum requirements for courses of study;
- issues certificates for completion of studies for various ministries;
- encourages ecumenical education; and
- recommends policies and standards to Assembly, for continuing education.
In all its work the Commission is committed to national consultation via email, teleconferencing and networking, maintaining national standards with a degree of flexibility that recognises the variable contexts of each Synod.
Executive and Working Groups
The Commission's Executive is located in Queensland but the full Commission meets nationally once a year. The MEC has various working groups located in different Synods. These working groups consider matters and advise the MEC and its Executive. The Executive and working groups are located as follows:
