Why the UCA Ordains Women

The Uniting Church has affirmed the ordination of women since its inception in 1977.  A significant paper was prepared and made available in 1990.  It sets out the theological basis for the UCA position which is still pertinent.

Important Resources is a list of helpful books and websites for leaders in the Uniting Church.  It has been developed by the Doctrine and Worship Working Groups to assist people to know what are the most valuable resources for ministry in a number of key areas.

How to Read the Bible - 12 Simple Guidelines

How to Read the Bible - 12 Simple Guidelines is a resource developed by the Doctrine Working Group. It offers some useful steps as to how people can truly enter into the biblical message. How to read the Bible is available a hard copy format from the Doctrine Working Group or can be accessed below, in the following languages.

DocBytes

The National Working Group on Doctrine has now prepared seven discussion starters known as DocBytes.  They aim to encourage theological thinking on specific topics across the Uniting Church.  These two-page papers are especially aimed at groups though they can also be used for personal reflection.  They provide some input, questions, and also point to further reading options. The first three are on: Apologetics, Doctrine and Marriage.
