The Assembly is the national council of the Uniting Church in Australia with responsibilities in the areas of Doctrine, Worship, Government and Discipline. The Assembly, through its agencies, is involved in areas of work including advocacy and lobbying on issues of justice, interfaith relations, multicultural and cross-cultural ministry and the development and communication of the mission and ethos of the Uniting Church to its members and the Australian community.
The Senior Media officer will have a background in journalism, media management, government and/or public relations. The Senior Media Officer will be responsible for leading and driving the overall Communications functions of the Assembly and providing high level advice and support for media and government relations to the Uniting Church Assembly and it agencies.
The successful candidate will possess:
• Significant media experience in a similar role.
• A demonstrated understanding of the federal parliamentary sphere and other areas of Commonwealth or state government.
• Strategic leadership skills.
• Significant experience in leading high volume media and communication functions.
• A strong capacity to work with organisational complexity.
• Superior interpersonal skills.
• The ability to work within the ethos and social justice framework of the Uniting Church In Australia
