In the Uniting Church in Australia mission and unity are affirmed as an integral part of the core functions of the Church through its Assembly. The Basis of Union speaks of the Church's calling to 'the promotion of the Church's mission', and 'the taking of further measures towards wider union of the Church' (para 15 e). The Basis also sets the international context of our 'special relationships with Churches in Asia and the Pacific' (para 2). Following is a paper on Mission and Unity.
Mission and Unity
Mission and unity are the very essence of the Church. At a UIM Reference Committee Interim Executive, July 1998 was made that affirms this position.
