Privacy Policy

This policy has been adopted by the National Assembly in order to comply with the requirements of the Privacy Amendment (Private Sector) Act No 155 of 2000. The purpose of this Privacy Policy is to advise subscribers, squatters, triallists, customers, staff members and those applying for positions with the National Assembly, what information the organisation may collect, how that information may be used, to whom it may be disclosed, how that information is stored (including security of the information), the processes for correcting information held and the disposal of such information by the National Assembly.

Use and disclosure of personal information

If you elect to provide your credit card details then we will have to disclose your personal information to third parties in order to bill and deliver the service. However, the disclosure will only be made where it is necessary to fulfil the purpose for which you disclosed your personal information. Otherwise than stated above, we do not disclose personal information that you may give us, such as your name, address, email address or telephone number, to any organisation or person outside the National Assembly unless you have authorised us to do so.

The National Assembly will use personal information provided to it only for the purpose for which it was provided. In most cases, the purpose will relate to the management of our subscription database, discussion forums and analysing demographic data to enable us to improve the content and performance of the website.

The National Assembly will only use personal information about an individual for a secondary purpose (ie. something beyond the scope of the primary purpose) if that individual has consented.

No sale of personal information

The National Assembly will not sell or receive payment for licensing or disclosing personal information.

Access and correction and disposal

If the National Assembly holds your personal information, the National Assembly will, where possible, provide you with access to the information. The National Assembly will take reasonable steps to correct the information so that it is accurate, complete and up to date.

Security

No data transmission over the internet can be guaranteed to be totally secure. Remember to close your browser when you have finished a user session.
