Welcome Visitors

Uniting Church in Australia President Stuart McMillan has welcomed visitors from the Methodist Church of Sri Lanka (MCSL) and the Armenian Missionary Association of America (AMAA) at UnitingWorld's Sydney offices.

The President/Bishop of the Methodist Church in Sri Lanka Rev. Asiri Perera and Mrs Sharmila Perera shared stories of the work of reconciliation in postwar Sri Lanka with Mr McMillan and representatives of UnitingWorld.

Rev. Perera spoke of the MSCL's war widow program and an education project for tea pickers on plantations in Sri Lanka's Hill area.

The MCSL recently changed its constitution to mandate 40% youth representation in its Church administration.

Mr McMillan also met Mr Zaven Khandjian, Executive Director and CEO of the Armenian Missionary Association of America (AMAA) Inc.

Mr Khandjian thanked the Uniting Church for its recognition of the Armenian Genocide at the 14th Assembly.

"When you hear our pain there is hope for the future," said Mr Khandjian.

Armenians around the world marked the centenary of the genocide on 24 April 2015.
