Register for SongWrite 2018

What songs might the Uniting Church produce to inspire its onward journey as a pilgrim people for the next 40 years? How will we sing the Lord’s song in the strange land of our missional future?

Songwrite is a biennial national workshop to encourage and equip worship songwriters in the Uniting Church. Following the success of workshops in Canberra and Adelaide, the third event will be held in Brisbane on the Australia Day long weekend next year, 26-28 January 2018.

The main guest artist and speaker is Tanya Riches, a pastor and accomplished musician at Hillsong in Sydney who has a deep academic interest and extensive experience in working musically with First Peoples and in cross-cultural settings.

Joining Tanya and her husband, Tim Sheerman, will be several other published Christian songwriters from Brisbane and interstate to guide and support workshop participants.

Songwrite is open to anyone in the Uniting Church who is currently, or interested in, writing songs (music, lyrics or both) for worship in any musical style. There’s particular encouragement for First Peoples and those from different cultural backgrounds to attend.

The weekend includes worship, input sessions, sharing music and ideas, and lots of time for composing either on your own or with one of our resource people.

Music composed or shared at this workshop which draws on the theme of the 15th Assembly in July 2018 may be used in the worship at that Assembly meeting.

Songwrite is an activity of the Assembly’s Worship Working Group.
