Indonesian National Conference

Written by Rev. Dr Apwee Ting

The 14th Indonesian National Conference took place at St Andrew’s Gardiner Uniting Church, Melbourne from Friday to Sunday 7 July,

The Conference titled ‘Blessed to Bless’, was attended by up to 60 Indonesian leaders from Darwin, Perth, Sydney and Melbourne.

Chair of the Conference Rev Ayub Yahya welcomed President Dr Deidre Palmer, who preached on Matthew 5:1-12 at the opening worship.

Rev Agustina Litelnoni the Vice Moderator from GMIT (our UCA partner from West Timor) and the Indonesian Consul General in Melbourne Ms Spica Tutuhatunewa also attended.

GKI Perth led the morning worship on the second day, followed by Assembly Resourcing Unit (Rob Floyd, Charissa Suli.and Apwee Ting) sharing about the life, mission and ministry of the Uniting Church.

Small group discussions followed about: Second Gen, partnership-building, development and networking between Indonesian Congregations.

The Darwin Indonesian Congregation closed the day with songs and prayers.

It was wonderful for me to see leadership from the 1.5 and 2nd Generation Indonesian Australians.

I am sure that the strong community built over the Indonesian National Conference will lead to more partnering, networking and resourcing each other in Mission across our multicultural Church.
