President's Easter Message 2019

In her first Easter message as Church President, Dr Deidre Palmer speaks about the constant inspiration she and other UCA members draw from those living lives of love and justice in the way of Jesus.

“In the face of world events like the horrendous attack in Christchurch, where words and acts of hatred and violence have threatened the harmony and peace of our communities, Christ comes to us with a call to love our neighbours, live in peace and work for a reconciled human community.

“In the spirit of Christ our young people reject racism and hate speech and embrace Jesus’ message of love and inclusion,” said Dr Palmer.

The video message was recorded at the Uniting Church’s National Young Adult Leaders Conference in the Adelaide Hills.

Dr Palmer said young Christians were setting an example for their elders – and all Australians.

“The passion, love and acceptance I saw in this diverse group gives me hope for all of us who follow Jesus.”

“In Jesus we see that love is the lens through which God sees us, and I see that love expressed in these young people.”

Closed captions for the message are available in Arabic. Chinese, Fijian, Indonesian, Tongan and English.
