Hanson burqa stunt

The President of the Uniting Church in Australia Stuart McMillan has condemned One Nation Senator Pauline Hanson’s behaviour in the Australian Senate today.

Senator Hanson put on a burqa during Senate Question Time to draw attention to her call for the full body veil worn by some Muslim women to be banned in Australia.

Support for Australian Muslim leaders

The Uniting Church in Australia affirms its friendship and ongoing collaboration with the Muslim community after three Australian Islamic leaders were targeted in an ISIS propaganda video.

In the video the terrorist group condemns Islamic scholars from around the world for discouraging violence in the name of Islam, including the Grand Mufti of Australia, Dr Ibrahim Abu Mohamed, NSW Police Force chaplain Sheikh Ahmed Abdo and youth leader Sheikh Shady Alsuleiman, Fairfax Media reported.

Racist Remarks Condemned

The President of the Uniting Church in Australia Stuart McMillan has condemned as racist comments made by Immigration Minister Peter Dutton about Lebanese-Muslim Australians.

Mr Dutton has suggested that the arrival of Lebanese Muslims in the 1970s is partly to blame for a small number of Australians joining ISIS/Daesh as foreign fighters.
