The Uniting Church in Australia has joined global churches and ecumenical bodies calling for immediate steps to formalising peace on the Korean Peninsula.

In a statement issued by the World Council of Churches on the 70th anniversary of the beginning of the Korean War (25 June 1950 –  27 July 1953), churches and councils of churches from countries that played a role in the conflict have urged a formal declaration of the end of that War and the adoption of a peace treaty.

Advancing the Gender Justice Agenda

Last month I had the great privilege of moderating the Word Council of Churches’ Gender Advisory Group meeting in Switzerland.

The Advisory Group, which I’ve been a member of since 2014, has the task of drafting a WCC Gender Justice Policy.

Prayers for peace and unity in Korea

Uniting Church members are invited to join in prayers this coming Sunday for peace and reunification on the Korean peninsula.

This weekend Christians around the world will be praying for peace on the Korean peninsula, which remains divided and without a formal peace agreement 70 years after the end of World War II, said UCA President Stuart McMillan.
