July, 2009 saw the Twelfth triennial Assembly of the Uniting Church in Australia take place in Sydney. Adopted at that Assembly was a statement entitled 'Jews & Judaism: A Statement by the Uniting Church in Australia'. The Statement had been brought by the Synod of Victoria and Tasmania Working Group on Christian / Jewish Relations, and was a culmination of years of work by the Group members.

The Assembly went on to develop a DVD and accompanying study booklet, entitled 'Light Eternal', to help members of the Uniting Church in Australia, as well as interested people from a wider audience, to engage fully with the Statement. It is also hoped, also, that these resources will provide inspiration to look for opportunities to explore the Christian / Jewish relationship.
