Ten Years On

Ten years ago this week, the 12th Assembly resolved to add a new and important Preamble to our Constitution.

The profound lament, truth, theology and intention of this preamble cannot be understated. It says, this is who we are as the Uniting Church in Australia, this is how we understand our history, and this is our commitment to First Peoples and to the gospel.

Solidarity with African youth

President Stuart McMillan has expressed solidarity with Australia’s African community in the wake of recent negative political and media commentary.

“Fear and negativity are such a blight on our public life. I find it deeply regrettable and offensive that some of our political leaders and media have begun the New Year by demonising a group of young African men,” said Mr McMillan.

Together as one in the body of Christ

More than 90 people came together for the second Middle East National Conference of the Uniting Church held in Bankstown in south-western Sydney from 4-5 November.

Representing a range of countries including Lebanon, Syria, Iraq, Jordan, Egypt and Palestine, people came to share in fellowship and worship, and to reflect on the theme, “Looking to the Future”.
